David Lindeman will lead a workshop on “Preparing for Grants: Introduction to Program Design and Evaluation” for the Rodham Institute of George Washington University.

Grant Writing Workshop Series

The Rodham Institute will be providing a research education workshop series. The goal of this series is to provide introductory grants writing and management education to community-based partners, faculty, and those interested in applying for the Rodham Institute’s Academic and Community Collaboration Award (ACCA). There will be a focus on public health grants that include community partners.

Schedule:
1. Preparing for Grants: Intro to Program Design and Evaluation: June 6, 2018, 6:00 – 7:30PM
Introduction to logic models, appropriate evaluation metrics (process outcomes and project outcomes) and feasible timeline. Evaluation as introduction to project/program design – setting goals, objectives, and outcomes.

2. Grant Research and Planning: June 13, 2018, 6:00 – 7:30PM
Resources and strategies for researching suitable grant opportunities, developing relationships with funders, writing preliminary summaries and letters of inquiry, preparing appropriate grant-related registrations (e.g., SAM, grants.gov).

3. Basic Grant Proposal Writing: June 27, 2018, 6:00 – 7:30PM
Crafting specific aims, describing innovation and significance, developing a research study plan, and developing a budget. Dissecting the RFP, strategies for strong and compelling proposal writing, managing proposal teams, proposal editing and review.

Workshop Instruction/Facilitation:
The sessions will be led by David Lindeman, CFRE, GPC, CF APMP, a professional grant writer and editor who serves as a Research Development Consultant with GW’s Office of Vice President for Research (OVPR). Mr. Lindeman has twenty years of experience working with academic and nonprofit organizations in education, health, and economic development to develop successful grant proposals to government agencies and private foundations. He has led the Grants Writing Workshop the past two years.

Evaluations: Participants will be asked to complete evaluations at the end of each session to obtain feedback and to make adjustments to future sessions as appropriate.

David Lindeman, CFRE, GPC is president of Global Grant Solutions. He provides grant development, writing, and editing services to help client organizations secure funding for domestic and international programs in education, health, economic development, science and technology, and other fields. He has served as president of the Board of Directors of the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI); past chair of the Publications Committee of the Grant Professionals Association (GPA); and past president of GPA’s National Capital Area chapter.
